Our Approach to Production
All our courseware is authored using tools that are both AICC and
SCORM compliant.
We use industry leading web development tools, such as
SumTotal Systems ToolBook, to construct interactive templates capable of importing a
structured Word document to create interactive web-based applications.
We use PowerPoint as a development tool for simple graphics.
This strategy enables the development of a large number of visuals in a
format that is easy to maintain by the client.
Another proprietary content management tool we employ - the
Highlighting Tool - cross-references the text to specific sections of a
displayed graphic.
The lesson publication process exports the content from a
structured Word document to a flat, tagged text file using the Lesson
Content Manager (LCM). This text file is then input into a proprietary
Openscript program (Openscript is the scripting language used by
ToolBook) to Autobuild a ToolBook lesson. ToolBook then
exports this lesson to HTML, suitable for use by different
browsers.
This efficient lesson publication strategy enables the creation of a
large volume of content with extensive interactivity and supports the
efficient and centralized development of hyperlinked glossary items;
full-text search indexes; and integrated, interactive assessments. It
also allows for an additional investment in media production, such as
animations and interactive exercises.
